one thing that stuck out to me when i watch this video is the amount of distance between Avery Bradley and the person he's guarding.
he isn't always necessarily pressed up on his man, applying maximum pressure, which is smart.
because that can backfire and create offense at times.
most times, he just real solid and stays on the ground for pump fakes & hezi motions.
which is key in today's game.
BE SOLID.
AND SLIDE YOUR FEET.
kyrie put in work this game.
but what i love most about his perfomace in this game was his efficiency.
he wasn't too flashy.
and he didn't need a ton of fgas to get the job done.
he just played a really fundamental game.
landing on two feet when getting paint touches.
being strong with the ball.
eager to maake the right play. THE EASY PLAY.
basketball is simple.
don't overcomplicate it.
scoring is cool.
but when you can score & pass, you start to play a whole different game.
Golden State when they had KD, had some of the best ball movement of all time.
and everybody on the team could catch and shoot.
UNSELFISHNESS is key.
but, still be aggressive.
But be a little more UNSELFISH in the way you approach the game.
Make great decisions on the court.
i really believe ja's super power is his confidence in himself.
and that confidence in himself allows him to play the game at his pace.
and then before you know it, everyone is playing at his pace.
PACE. PACE. PACE
you gotta play wit PACE.
you can't let anyone speed you up.
there's an old adage that says: "you are what you consume."
and it makes sense.
if you eat bad food.
then _______________________.
if you drink too much.
then ________________________.
if you eat too much candy.
then ________________________.
Same thing with basketball.
if you constantly consume high level basketball, then you will start to see the game a different way, which will almost always improve you IQ for the game.
Study the game.
if you wanna be great.
the best hoopers know how to let plays develop.
even though they may want to, they don't press as much.
Think about Nikola Jokic.
You never really see his sped up.
It's almost as if he's in lala land out there but he's really focused.
And most importantly, he really knows who he is on the court.
He knows he's not athletic uber athletic like DeAndre Jordan was with the Clippers.
He knows he not super strong like Shaq was with the Magic & Lakers.
But he knows he know he's smart.
And that's all he needs.
dame is really like that.
and the reason he really like that is because he works very, very hard on his craft.
and he is very, very focused
A lot of you all want to play the game at the college level.
Before you do so, you must know the level of physicality the college level is played at.
Check out this snippet of a scrimmage the Rutgers Men's Basketball team had during summer workouts.
Duke Men's Basketball has been one of the most successful college basketball programs in the nation for a long time.
The work don't lie.
Play at Your Pace.
CP is the king of playing at his pace.
And the reason he is able to do so is because he is:
1. always willing to pass;
2. has a unselfish mindset; and
3. he plays to win.
when you watch this game, really look at how MJ took his time and let the game come to him, instead of forcing himself on the game.
often times when i watch youth basketball, you can see kids out there pressing, then end up doing too much.
Let the game come to you.
u gotta use it.
the triple threat will slow you down.
the triple threat allows you read the game.
the triple threat allows you time to let plays evolve.
the triple threat allows you to play the game with better pace.
Melo was a beast on the block.
everyone should have some type of back to the basketball game regardless of size.
it's nothing but footwork, patience and feel.
